THE PILATES METHOD
The Pilates Method is a system of exercise designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness endeavor, but as an excellent supplement to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation of all kinds. Developed by Joseph Pilates one hundred years ago, this system incorporates specific exercises and focused breathing patterns.
This system of exercises can:
- Strengthen and tone muscles
- Improve posture
- Provide flexibility and balance
- Unite body and mind
- Create a more streamlined physique
Private sessions are 55 minutes in length and generally include client intake, warm-up and stretching, and a series of exercises designed to address the particular goals of the individual. The nine essential principles of the Pilates Method are incorporated in each session: concentration, control, center (or core), fluidity, precision, breath, imagination, intuition, and integration. Special care is taken to ensure that each client receives a safe, individualized, and challenging workout.
